The owner of a local tire shop is reminding drivers about the importance of having snow tires before the wintry weather arrives.
Marty Kerr, owner of Kerr’s Tire Korner said snow tires will provide better traction on the roads.

He said four tires are needed if your vehicle is front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and two tires on the back if your vehicle is rear wheel drive.
Kerr also said studs in tires will help with driving and braking on ice.

He recommends that snow tires be replaced every few years.
“Usually about three years they last and they’re still in real good shape once they get down about half the tread they’re like any other tire doesn’t give you quite the traction that they should give you but usually three or four years you get out of them,” said Kerr.
Kerr said his store was busy on Monday with the wintry weather expected for some parts of the region later this week.
