Massachusetts wildfires have put the entire state under a red flag warning as fire crews battle against winds spreading the blaze.
Fires broke out in in Philadelphia and in a state park south of Boston. In the Hainesport Fire east of Philadelphia – 20 structures were threatened before fire crews managed to stop the flames from nearing homes. By Tuesday, the fire was 50% contained after burning 40 acres of woodland, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said.
Meanwhile at the Blue Hills Reservation, a state park near the town of Milton, Massachusetts, the state Department of Conservation & Recreation. said a blaze was 10% contained. It comes as a man was arrested on suspicion of intentionally setting brush fires in Massachusetts during a time of dry conditions that have led to blazes throughout the Northeast, police said Monday.
