MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Madison’s Streets Division is investing in a different kind of salt to keep roads safe in case of extreme winter weather. Magnesium Chloride works in much colder temperatures than regular rock salt, which is sodium chloride. This was purchased new this year as a result of the winter storm Madison faced in January where roads were incredibly slick.
