Hawking Points: A Milestone Night For Kansas Over UNC Wilmington

UNC Wilmington presented a unique challenge for the Kansas Jayhawks with its ability to draw fouls and run but KU handled it well in an 84-66 win. It was also another milestone as Bill Self earned his 800th victory.

Key Plays

Hunter Dickinson picked up right here he left off the past two games, scoring the first four points. The Jayhawks capitalized on turnovers and transition early, with Zeke Mayo getting an easy basket and Rylan Griffin hitting a three.

Kansas started out ice cold from three (1-8) until Dajuan Harris hit his first and David Coit followed up a possession later to go up 27-19.

The shots weren’t falling in the first half, so KU went to the rim. Shaq Moore got a nice screen from Flory Bidunga and then Mayo had a nice stutter move for a layup.

The Seahawks cut the lead to two before AJ Storr hit a step-back three.

Only up five at the half, Kansas scored two quick baskets in two possessions to start the second. Harris had a footer and then Griffin finished in transition. Another stop and Adams hit Mayo on a back-door drive to go up 49-38. The KU defense was much more active and it allowed the Jayhawks to help to a 55-40 lead after a Harris layup and foul.
