Man, dog left without a home after fire

WALTHOURVILLE, Ga. (WSAV) — A man and his dog are without a home after a fire destroyed their house Thursday night.

The Walthrouville Fire Department and the Hinesville Fire Department responded to the house fire on the 200 block of St. John’s Road shortly after 7 p.m.

Flames reached several feet high as the fire consumed a large portion of the roof. The fire departments worked to get the fire under control for nearly 30 minutes.

The man and his dog were not injured in the fire. The homeowner said that he has lived in the home since 1992 and that his 1934 classic vehicle sustained most of the damage in the garage.
