1 arrested after Sunday house fire in South Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Amarillo Fire Department released information about a Sunday afternoon fire in South Amarillo that involved the arrest of one person on suspicion of alleged arson.

Fire department officials detailed that crews responded to a reported house fire in the 5000 block of SW 55th Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

When the fire department arrived, officials reported that the Amarillo Police Department had arrested David Lynn Sprague at the scene on suspicion of alleged “arson of a habitation.”

Fire department officials said that the response to the fire involved a total of six fire apparatus and 19 personnel, with an estimated property loss reported at $2,500 and content losses estimated at $150. No injuries were reported in connection to the fire.

The fire department further noted that the Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office filed a case on the incident with the Randall County District Attorney’s office.
