Mansfield ISD cracked down on cell phones in class during the 2023-24 school year, rolling out a no-tolerance phone policy that fines students $15 for each repeated violation. The policy bans junior high and high school students from using their phones without permission during instructional time, and it leaves it to individual campuses to decide whether to allow students to use their phones during passing periods and lunch.
