A group of teens and young adults were arrested after a report of vandalism at a water reservoir in West St. Paul.
West St. Paul police said a break-in was reported at the St. Paul Regional Water Services holding tank on Imperial Drive in West St. Paul at around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
When officers arrived, they saw multiple suspects fleeing from the scene, and received help in finding them from neighboring departments, who provided both drone and helicopter aid.
With air assistance, officers were able to arrest multiple juvenile and young adult suspects and are in the process of filing charges against them.
Officers discovered a lid to the reservoir was vandalized, and immediately contacted St. Paul Regional Water Services.
“Out of an abundance of caution, SPRWS isolated and shut off the reservoir until water testing can be completed and results come back all clear,” the police department said, but added that there is no reason to believe that the suspects intended to tamper with the water supply.
