For over 100 years, the legacy of the family-owned Kornfeind’s Market in North Whitehall Township has persisted.
It’s a legacy which new owner Jodi Bilous, who started working there at a cashier when she was 14 years old, hopes to preserve.
“I would like to thank the Kornfeind Family for allowing me the opportunity to carry on their family store legacy,” she said in an email. “It is with great honor that I will continue on with their family tradition and values.”
Kornfeind’s Market, located at 2228 Old Post Road, offers catering, a tavern with events like bingo and karaoke nights, and goods such as meals, freshly cut meats, groceries and foods from local bakers.
The market operates 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday as well as 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend, while the tavern is open 5-10 p.m. Friday.
In April 1922, Louis and Mary Kornfeind opened the market on Main Street in Northampton Borough. Their son, Joseph R. Kornfeind , opened the shop with his wife Mary at its current location in 1968.
