Near freezing temperatures forecast for South Carolina; Coastal Areas to remain warmer

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Frost Advisory for inland areas, effective overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Canadian high pressure dominates the region, keeping skies clear and winds calm, setting the stage for radiational cooling. Temperatures are expected to drop to 33-36°F in inland zones, while coastal areas will remain warmer, around 10-12°F higher.

Pockets of frost are likely to develop, particularly in rural areas like Francis Marion. Dew points in the lower 40s and slight warming aloft may limit frost formation in some spots. Steam fog might also form near rivers and marshes before dawn. Residents are urged to protect sensitive plants and prepare for chilly conditions through early Sunday.
