The 38th Annual Marietta Pilgrimage returns on Dec. 6, giving guests a glimpse inside five historic homes decorated for the holidays.
During the pilgrimage, guests have the chance to tour and admire the interior of five homes in the Whitlock Avenue neighborhood.
The five homes this year are 45 Cleburne Ave., 10 Morrison St., 511 Hickory Dr., 304 N. Hillcrest Dr. and 134 McDonald St.
134 McDonald St.
The oldest home on the tour, nicknamed Mockingbird Hill, was constructed in 1888. The home was designed by Gottfried Norman, who later served as a mentor for famed Atlanta architect Neil Reid.
Among its owners were Dr. Ralph Fowler, a pediatrician, and his wife Irma Fowler, who was killed in the Atherton Drug Store explosion on Marietta Square in 1963.
Its current owners Sandra Slider and Rusty Slider purchased the home in 2022.
The home’s original decorative woodwork has been retained throughout its history. It also features extensive Civil War artifacts, some of which were recovered on the Mockingbird Hill property.
