To kick off the month of December and the holiday season, the Boring-Damascus Grange members will host their annual lighting of the tree at the center of Boring Station Trailhead Park on Sunday, Dec. 1.
“This annual event brings the community together for a family friendly evening to open the Christmas season,” said Grange member and event organizer Karla Farr. “The convenience of having it close to home for many, means a fun evening without a lot of cost or travel. It has become a tradition that local families, old and new, look forward to every year.”
The festivities will start with caroling around the tree at 4:45 p.m. (bring a flashlight). Then at 5:15 p.m. Santa Claus will come to light the tree.
Following the outdoor activities, the grange members invite all to warm up with refreshments and visit with Santa in the Grange Hall.
“The Boring Damascus-Grange has been a landmark for the community since it was built in 1896 and is the perfect locale for this event,” Farr added.
Nonperishable foods and a kids’ gifts for Operation Santa by Clackamas Fire will be collected at the event.
