Seven agency stolen vehicle mission recovers 10 cars, arrests five

A large-scale, law enforcement team-up involving seven agencies led to significant returns in the form of recovered stolen vehicles, arrested offenders for numerous crimes, a gun seizure and more.

On Friday, Nov. 22, members of the Portland Police Bureau, Gresham Police Department, and Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office led a stolen vehicle mission focused on East Portland. The results were:

16 stops10 stolen vehicles recovered5 people taking into custody1 gun seized7 warrants served4 vehicle eludes2 pursuits

In total 79 people participated in the mission, including non-sworn and civilian partners. Other groups were the Port of Portland Police Department, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Parole and Probation, the United States Department of Justice, and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.

“I was honored to once again see first-hand the incredible coordination and professionalism of our members and the law enforcement partners who joined us for this mission,” said Portland Police Chief Bob Day. “The SVO missions are showing tangible results and are a key part of our goals to transform the dynamic between the police and the people we serve, reduce crime and the fear of crime, and focus on organizational growth and development.”
