Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was fined $14,000 for making a “violent gesture” during a game against the Buffalo Bills. The gesture, which involved Mahomes pointing his fingers like a gun, occurred after he threw a touchdown pass.
This is not the first time Mahomes has been fined for unsportsmanlike conduct. Last December, he was fined $50,000 for verbally abusing an official. Interestingly, that game was also against the Bills, and the Chiefs lost.
In last Sunday’s game, the Chiefs lost again, marking their first loss of the season. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was also fined $100,000 for publicly criticizing an official during the game.
Despite the fine, the $14,000 penalty is considered a small amount for Mahomes, who has a lucrative contract.
