California State Senate seat flips from Democratic to Republican, 1st time since 1980

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – For the first time since 1980, a Republican has flipped a seat in the California State Senate in a general presidential election. Democratic State Sen. Josh Newman conceded in his race to continue representing Orange County to Republican former Assemblyman Steven Choi. Choi for days now has been leading the race and was up by about 6,000 votes as of Monday night.
