Russia’s Nuclear Forces on High Alert
A former Russian nuclear officer, Anton, has revealed that Russia’s nuclear weapons were put on combat alert on the day of the Ukraine invasion. Anton, who spoke from a secret location, confirmed that his unit was ready to launch nuclear strikes.
Inside the Nuclear Base
Anton served at a top-secret nuclear facility where guards maintained a constant two-minute reaction time. He described a closed society with strict security measures, including lie-detector tests and restricted communication.
Concerns Over Russia’s Nuclear Arsenal
Experts have questioned the functionality of Russia’s nuclear weapons, but Anton claims that the arsenal is fully operational. He maintained that the weapons are constantly maintained and ready for use.
‘Criminal Order’ and Transfer to Assault Brigade
Shortly after the invasion, Anton refused to spread propaganda that Ukrainian civilians were combatants. This led to his transfer to a regular assault brigade, often used as “cannon fodder.”
Desertion and Risks
Anton fled Russia with the help of a volunteer organization that assists deserters. He believes the top-level security clearance system failed due to his transfer to the assault brigade. However, he remains at risk as Russian security services search for him.
Widespread Opposition to War
Anton emphasized that many Russian soldiers oppose the war. The number of deserters seeking help has risen to 350 per month, despite the growing risks of fleeing and being forcibly returned.
