Local school systems forced to pay back millions to Mobile County steel company

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) – Outokumpu Stainless battled in court for years and has now successfully argued it overpaid in property taxes – taxes that went to local school districts. According to the settlement agreement, local schools must now pay back nearly $3.4 million to the steel company. On Monday, the Mobile County Public School Board signed off on paying Outokumpu $3.1 million.
