Russia Launches Record Number of Drones at Ukraine

On Monday and Tuesday, Russia launched an unprecedented 188 drones into Ukraine, escalating its long-range attacks on critical infrastructure as winter approaches. Ukraine’s air force intercepted 76 drones, while 95 crashed or were jammed.

Russia also fired four Iskander-M ballistic missiles, damaging critical infrastructure and private buildings. President Zelenskyy condemned the attacks, highlighting the foreign components used in the drones and Russia’s circumvention of sanctions.

Recent weeks have seen a surge in Russian drone and missile strikes, targeting Ukraine’s energy grid to deprive Ukrainians of warmth and power during the harsh winter months.

Russia claims to have downed 40 Ukrainian drones over its territory and accuses Ukraine of using US-made ATACMS missiles against its anti-aircraft systems. Retaliatory actions are reportedly being prepared by Russia.
