The Marietta Police Department has confirmed the name of a Marietta man shot and killed early Friday morning on Franklin Gateway.
Just after midnight, officers in the 600 block of Franklin Gateway heard a single gunshot and discovered 36-year-old Jankar Araque-Ovalles on the ground nearby, police said.
Araque-Ovalles, who was lying down in a northbound lane, suffered a single gunshot wound. While first responders attempted to administer aid, he did not survive, authorities said.
According to police, investigators have confirmed the incident began at the Costa Mar Seafood and Cantina at 677 Franklin Gateway before spilling out into the parking lot and roadway.
