It is time for the legal and judicial establishment of Louisiana to renounce and stop attending the annual Red Mass at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. This anachronistic display of how much the church still holds sway over Louisiana government is a violation of the Constitution’s Establishment Clause, which, according to Justia.com, “prevents the government from making a law related to ‘an establishment of religion,’ which means that it cannot endorse a certain religion or become entangled in religious activities.”
