The former high school teammate of a current Tennessee Vols star player is reportedly expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal
According to a report from On3’s Hayes Fawcett, NC State sophomore wide receiver Kevin Concepcion plans to enter the portal.
Concepcion was high school teammates with Vols edge rusher James Pearce at Julius L. Chambers in Charlotte, NC.
Concepcion is a former three-star recruit who signed with NC State during the 2023 recruiting cycle.
The Charlotte native caught 71 passes for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2023. In 2024, Concepcion caught 53 passes for 460 yards and six touchdowns while playing in the nation’s No. 58 scoring offense. He also rushed for two touchdowns.
Concepcion caught 5 passes for 53 yards in a 51-10 loss to Tennessee earlier this season.
The Vols will probbaly be in the market for a transfer wide receiver with Bru McCoy and Dont’e Thornton off to the NFL after the 2024 season. Concepcion is certainly a player that would make sense for Tennessee, but the Vols will have plenty of competition if they pursue the soon-to-be former NC State wide receiver.
