iPhone Users Dissatisfied with iOS 18 Photos Update
Since Apple released the iOS 18 software update in September, many iPhone users have expressed dissatisfaction with the redesigned Photos app. The new design has been criticized as difficult to navigate and overwhelming.
Redesign Complaints
Users have complained that the updated app is unintuitive and makes it harder to find photos. One user wrote, “The Photos app redesign is a disaster.” Others have requested that Apple revert to the previous design in iOS 17.
Customization Option
While users cannot completely revert to the old design, there is a way to make the app more similar to the previous version. At the bottom of the Photos app, there is a “Customize & Reorder” option.

By clicking on “Customize & Reorder,” users can unselect all collections except for “Media Types.” This simplifies the app’s layout, making it easier to navigate. Users can also select “Albums” and “Utilities” for easy access.
