US Navy Thwarts Houthi Missile Attack in Gulf of Aden

American destroyers have successfully intercepted seven missiles and drones fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The attack targeted the destroyers and three merchant vessels escorted by the US Navy through the Gulf of Aden.

The US Central Command confirmed the incident, stating that the USS Stockdale and USS O’Kane destroyed three ballistic missiles, three drones, and an anti-ship cruise missile. No damage or injuries were reported on the US vessels or the merchant ships.

The Houthis have claimed responsibility for the attack, targeting the destroyers and “supply ships belonging to the American army.” This incident comes amid ongoing Houthi attacks on shipping in the strategic waterway, where significant global trade passes through annually.

The USS Stockdale was previously involved in a similar attack on November 12th.
