Family calls for justice for 18-year-old shot, killed in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A Greensboro family is in disbelief after Samad Johnson Jr, 18, was found shot and killed on the city’s north side.

“I have been sick to my stomach every day just to know I can’t hug him no more,” said Shalom Terry, Samad’s aunt.

One week ago, someone fishing on Lake Townsend spotted Johnson’s body in an embankment near Yanceyville Road. His family says they are not sure why he was in this area or who he was with before he was shot and killed.

But they know the pain of his loss hits hard, and they are determined to bring justice for the 18-year-old.

Johnson is gone way too soon.

“I just can’t believe it,” Terry said.

She saw an article about the body found in Greensboro and immediately had a bad feeling.

“I was calling him because he didn’t tell me happy Thanksgiving. He didn’t tell me happy Birthday … I was wondering why he wasn’t contacting me,” Terry said.

Over the holiday weekend, Greensboro police confirmed that the man shot and killed was her nephew.
