A downstate federal judge’s ruling against Illinois” assault weapons ban is being put on hold. A federal appeals court in Chicago ruled yesterday that the ban can stay in place while the state contests last month’s ruling by U.S. District Judge Stephen McGlynn, who found that the statewide ban violates the Second Amendment.
