Khrissy’s Kitchen serves Caribbean classics to the Piedmont Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Inside Khrissy’s Kitchen, it’s all about the flavor.

“Every once in a while I’ll get someone that calls and says ‘Hey when are you coming back up to the Burlington side of town?’ because they just really crave our Caribbean flavors,” says Khrissy Cooper, the owner.

It’s the taste she’s known and loved all her life.

“We are from Jamaica and my partner in crime is from Suriname in South America and her family’s from Guyana. The combination of our flavors are from those countries that we’re from.”

We got a jerk chicken taco and a jerk chicken sandwich The jerk chicken is the standout. They also have shrimp curry and salt fish fritter bites along with melt-in-your-mouth plantains.

Betty on Burke in Winston-Salem is a wonderful food fusion

But Khrissy wasn’t always rolling across the Tar Heel state. She used to work in corporate America until she had a stroke.

“During that time that I was home, I thought about what can I do that I’m extremely passionate about that doesn’t feel like work, and cooking and showing my love for people through food has been the thing.”
