WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A man has been charged following a shooting at the intersection of Northwest Boulevard and Trade Street on Thursday .
According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, they were called about a shooting at the intersection of Northwest Boulevard and Trade Street. When they got to the scene, they found a person who had been shot.
Jayven Shane Helton, 21, of Conover, was shot and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Upon further investigation, WSPD determined Helton went to the 100 block of Northwest Boulevard and shot at several people in the area. He was struck by returned fire.
Helton was charged with the following:
- Felony Assault with the Intent to Kill or Inflict Serious Injury
- Misdemeanor Assault by Pointing a Gun (3 counts)
- Misdemeanor Vandalism of Personal Property
- Misdemeanor Armed to Terror of the Citizens
- Misdemeanor Discharging a Firearm within City Limits
WSPD did not provide a booking photo for Helton.
