KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — East Tennessee has had several notable manhunts in the past year.
“We have had a number of high-profile cases, really it seems like in the past year and a half,” said David Jolley, the U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
Some of those includes the search for Kenneth DeHart in February to most recently the manhunt for Nicholas Hamlett.

“When we get involved in these investigations our skill set is fugitive investigations that is our major role in these types of investigation is the fugitive piece,” Jolley said. “We will find them wherever they are.”
The Eastern District of Tennessee is comprised of 41 counties.
“It will usually be a violent crime, a higher profile case and they ask the Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force, the United States Marshal Service task force to get involved in that and we have built a good reputation over many years of catching fugitives,” Jolley said. “If we are called upon to go find them that’s what we’ll do we’ll go find them and usually we find them in a very timely manner.”
