Heavy Rain & Damaging Winds Possible Across Coastal Areas of New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts
12/10/24 9:44am EST
Good morning everyone. We’re watching the pieces come together for a rainy, thundery, and windy time across parts of the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and New England today and tomorrow as a powerful cold front sweeps through.
We’ll start it off along the Gulf Coast where our system begins to take shape and our cold front draws up that Gulf moisture and energizes itself. Look for scattered clusters of thunderstorms to develop across parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama this afternoon and evening. These storms will move to the east/northeast as a wave of low pressure develops and heads up the Appalachians.
This will help bring a more organized line of heavy showers and thunderstorms this evening and tomorrow across parts of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. These storms will have the potential for damaging winds, hail, frequent lighting, torrential rain, and the risk of a few tornadoes.
