Woman arrested after pawning jewelry from elderly resident, Winter Haven police say

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — A Winter Haven woman was arrested for pawning jewelry from an elderly person who had her assist in jobs around the home, the Winter Haven police announced.

The victim contacted the police on Nov. 9 about a large amount of jewelry missing from her home.

During an interview with the victim, she said that back in October, she hired a man to cut down her tree that had been damaged by the hurricane. When the man arrived to cut down the tree, he brought his girlfriend, 35-year-old Kalan Davis, according to police.

While the tree was being cut down, Davis was paid to do odd jobs for the victim

According to police, the couple went to the home on four different occasions: Oct. 16, Oct. 23, Oct. 28, and Nov. 8, 2024.

Police said the victim recalled an incident in which her jewelry box, which was temporarily placed on her bed, had gone missing. Davis left to go outside and came back a short time later, finding the box under the bed, where the victim had looked numerous times.
