Fatal Winston-Salem house fire caused by unattended cooking, fire department says

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — The Winston-Salem Fire Department has revealed the cause of a fatal house fire that left two people dead over the weekend.

At around 3:33 a.m. on Saturday, firefighters came to the 200 block of North Graham Avenue after getting a report of a house fire.

The first fire engine arrived within three minutes and 22 seconds of dispatch.

Two adult men were found inside the home. They both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire department revealed on Tuesday morning that the cause of the fire was unattended cooking and that the fire was accidental.

The victims have been identified as 71-year-old John Dixon Jr. and 51-year-old Keith L. Dixon.
