Over $60K in funding awarded to local nonprofits through Erie Women’s Fund grant program

A partnership makes two local nonprofits its lucky recipients in an effort to empower the community.

The Erie Women’s Fund, through the Furchak Ferko Grant program, awarded grants to the Veterans Leadership Program of Western PA and the United Way of Erie County.

The grants will support each organization’s individual needs such as housing efforts and new projects surrounding access to critical vision care.

“Our mission is to empower families in the Erie community and through collective giving we’re able to use the dollars donated to us on a daily basis and put them back out in the community which is really what this organization was designed to do in the first place,” said Allison Hodas, incoming chair of the Erie Women’s Fund.

A total of $64,000 in grants were donated.
