Gainesville Police Department officers have been at the scene of a reported shooting incident since early afternoon, with the area surrounding the 2900 block of NE 10th Drive blocked off for hours.

A GRU employee reported hearing shots fired at around 1:30 p.m., and officers responded to the scene, where they learned that the suspect spends a lot of time in his concrete bunker and is known to own firearms. Officers have been unable to determine whether the man is in his house or in the bunker, and there have been no responses to repeated commands to come out.

As of 7 p.m., there is still a heavy police presence in the area. We will update this as more information is received.
