HEAVY Beer Company to cease operations

HEAVY Beer Co. is closing, the local brewery announced in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“From the beginning, HEAVY has been about more than just beer — it’s been about celebrating whatever fuels your passion,” the company, which was based at 1301 Summit St., said in the post. “It’s been about exploring the beauty of our region, building a strong community of breweries and beer lovers, and creating spaces where people can come together in a truly special way.”

The closure is effective as of Sunday.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way — our customers, team members, collaborators, and the incredible community of breweries we’ve had the honor of working alongside,” the company said. “Your enthusiasm and encouragement have fueled every pour, every idea, and every moment at HEAVY.”

In a separate Facebook post, Heavy Wheelhouse, the beer and coffee spot based at Oak Openings Metropark in Swanton, noted the closure and confirmed it too will close, at least for now.
