The sale of the Erie Golf Club has been court-approved as Millcreek Township will now pass the course off to a new owner.
The Erie Golf Club was purchased from the township for around $1.3 million. The buyer is Charles Van Eekeren, a business owner from near Chicago, Illinois.

Millcreek’s director of parks and recreation said the golf course got nationwide interest after being picked up by Golf Digest.
“He has been spending a lot of time in Erie I would say over the last several months since the summer when he came out to tour the course and get more information. He’s building his development plans. I know that he has goals to bring the course back to its full glory through the eyes of its architect A.W. Tillinhas, which was really important to him and was one of the draws of bringing him to that course specifically,” said Ashley Marsteller, director of parks and recreation for Millcreek Township.
Proceeds from the sale go directly to a dedicated parks and recreation fund, which will be used for capital improvements and program support throughout the department.
