Despite the harsh weather, Meals on Wheels was able to get out and make much-needed food deliveries to people in need Thursday.
Last week on Monday, Meals on Wheels volunteers were unable to deliver meals to people due to the weather and it was the first time in 50 years that has happened.

Since then, the organization has been serving without pause. Meals on Wheels runs 15 routes throughout the region and serve meals and provide groceries to around 200 people a day.
“It’s not just food, it’s not just groceries it really is that social interaction that people need, especially this time of year. It gets very lonely,” said Jennifer Hoffman, executive director of Meals on Wheels Erie. “A lot of times, this is the only reason that somebody is getting out of bed and getting dressed that day is because they know we’re coming.”
