City of Erie’s streets finally clear of snow after latest snowfall

One week and five days — that’s how long it took for crews to completely clear “every” street in the City of Erie after the Black Friday historic storm.

That’s according to Jeff Gibbens from the City of Erie Streets Department.

Gibbens told us the last of the narrow side streets were down to pavement Wednesday. Of course, those streets were coated again when the latest lake-effect snow began on Thursday.

Friday morning, crews were downtown on State Street clearing new fresh snow that had accumulated overnight.

Fortunately, this snowfall is nothing like what the city experienced on Thanksgiving weekend.

Gibbens is also urging everyone to be mindful of odd-even parking regulations.

“This is that light fluffy stuff. This was no problem. We were able to plow every outlying section last night. We’re in the odd-even parking sections right now. We’re still having a problem with the parking again. I can’t believe I still have to say please park on the right side of the road but we’re still dealing with that where are trucks can’t get through here because of cars,” he said.
