Erie Zoo celebrates its 100th anniversary with Winter Wonderland

The Erie Zoo has officially opened its gates to the public during the off-season and launching its centennial anniversary.

For select weekends once a month during December, January and February, the zoo will have winter hours from 10 a.m. to 4 pm. This weekend is their Winter Wonderland.

They have a full schedule of activities, including a toy drive with Taradoodles’ Toybox of Erie which helps local families in need.

Hali Hartley, the special events manager, said they haven’t had winter hours in nearly two decades.

“This is also really great for the animals because in our off-season, we do take turns and we have volunteers that help keep company with the animals by walking through their viewing area so they can get some more interactions. This will be great for them to be able to also see the community come in and interact with them,” said Hartley.
