‘A Hallmark movie for real’: Medina to bring NC Helene victims to town for Christmas

It all sounds like a plot for a Hallmark Christmas movie.

Folks living in a cluster of small towns are working to rebuild their lives and homes after a devastating flood and they are just not feeling very Christmassy this year with all the work that needs to be done.

Some 500 miles away, there is another small town that is aglow with the holiday spirit and, well, wants to bring Christmas to these folks who, in many cases, have lost everything.

This is the plot behind the ambitious Promise of Christmas effort now underway in northern Ohio to bring hundreds of hurricane victims from North Carolina to Medina for a weekend of Christmas fun and escape, even just for a little while.

This story has a whole cast of characters but, like a Hallmark movie, there are some central ones — and even one who bears a striking resemblance to Santa.

Enter Mark and Dana Klaus, who run the popular Castle Noel Christmas museum and attraction in downtown Medina.
