One man is dead and another is facing serious charges after a high-speed police pursuit ended with a crash in Maplewood this weekend.
It started Friday night with a domestic violence call at a home in Roseville, where local police initiated the pursuit after seeing the suspect leave the residence around 10:30 p.m., authorities say.
The suspect is said to have evaded Roseville police, though Ramsey County sheriff’s deputies picked up the pursuit a short time later.
The chase ultimately came to an end at the intersection of Bellwood Avenue and Edgerton Street in Maplewood, where authorities say the suspect crashed into a civilian vehicle.
The driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, but died there after suffering cardiac arrest.
Their name has not yet been released by authorities.
The suspect was also treated for injuries sustained in the crash and is now in custody. He’s facing a string of charges, included vehicular homicide.
Authorities note that the man has a lengthy criminal history, with dozens of charges including burglary, drunk driving and domestic assault.
