A teenage boy in New Mexico has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly killing four family members.
The 16-year-old suspect called 911 early Saturday morning to report the deaths at a home near Belen. He was intoxicated and surrendered to police upon their arrival.
Authorities found four people dead inside the home, along with a handgun. The victims were identified as a 42-year-old, a 35-year-old, and two teenagers aged 16 and 14. Their relationship to the suspect is unclear.
The suspect reportedly told a dispatcher that he had killed his family. Police are investigating the motive and gathering evidence.
The teenage suspect was taken to a hospital for detoxification and later booked into the Juvenile Justice Center in Albuquerque. He faces four counts of first-degree murder.
The investigation is ongoing, and the case will be presented to the district attorney’s office for prosecution. It is not yet known if the suspect has legal representation.
