Missing Hawaii Woman Returns to US After Crossing Mexican Border

Hannah Kobayashi, the Hawaii woman who disappeared in November, has returned to the United States.

Over the weekend, Kobayashi crossed back into California from Mexico and was questioned by authorities. She appeared healthy and was not in any apparent distress.

Kobayashi met her lawyer at the border and left with him. She had previously made contact with her family last week, prompting the closure of the LAPD’s missing person investigation.

Investigation and Father’s Tragic Death

Kobayashi initially went missing after leaving a connecting flight in Los Angeles. She was later spotted in the city and captured on camera crossing into Mexico.

Her father traveled to Los Angeles to search for her but died by suicide two weeks later. It is unclear if Kobayashi is aware of his death.

Circumstances of Disappearance and Return

The LAPD has stated that they do not suspect foul play or trafficking in Kobayashi’s disappearance. However, it is noteworthy that her lawyer, rather than her family, met her upon her return.
