Stolen car crashes in Canton while being pursued by troopers

CANTON ‒ The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-car crash that occurred as troopers chased a stolen car in the city’s northwest section on Saturday night.

It happened at the intersection of Fulton Road and Hoover Place at approximately 11:30 p.m., Canton patrol post Commander Lt. Kaitlyn Kowicki said in a news release.

Troopers from the Canton post had tried to stop a stolen 2012 Hyundai Elantra for a traffic violation on Fulton at 10th Street NW. The car drove away.

After it crashed into a retaining wall, the occupants fled on foot. Three of the five occupants were arrested at or near the crash scene. All of those apprehended were juveniles.

No injuries were claimed by those caught from the incident.
