Fentanyl stored in an apartment on same floor as a daycare center; children evacuated as a precaution during law enforcement search. An undercover investigation into high-level fentanyl trafficking led authorities to seize over 12 kilograms of suspected fentanyl (more than 26 pounds) in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. At least seven of these kilograms were recovered from a first-floor apartment of 780 Garden Street. During a law enforcement search, powder believed to be fentanyl was released into the air in the apartment, prompting an evacuation of all inhabitants of the first floor, including children present inside a daycare center down the hall from the apartment. Emergency medical responders evaluated officers for exposure to fentanyl.
