Three teens recaptured in Dallas after escaping detention center

Three teens are back in custody after busting out of a juvenile facility in Granbury.

The three were captured in the Dallas area Monday morning after they made their daring escape. Troopers with the Texas Department of Safety say two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old escaped from the Lake Granbury Youth Services facility on Sunday by beating up two guards and taking off.

After they escaped, they stole a vehicle and several guns. They used the weapons to commit an armed robbery at a gas station in Dublin. The three teens then stole a second vehicle and drove to Lancaster.

Several agencies got involved in the search until finally Dallas Police saw the stolen vehicle and tried to pull it over but the suspects drove to Hutchins and abandoned the car. The three were eventually found in an apartment complex in Hutchins.

All three will be charged with first degree felony escape. Other charges are expected.
