Man who pleaded guilty to murder of Plano jogger back in 2020 gets life in prison

PLANO (1080 KRLD)- A Plano man who killed a jogger in Chisholm Trail Park four years ago has been put away for life.

Monday morning Bakari Moncrief was sentenced to life in prison for his guilty plea to murdering a 43-year-old Plano woman. It was a strange crime that sent chills through Plano.

On August 1, 2020 a wife, mother and cancer researcher was killed while out on a jog. Her jogging shoes were left on the trail. But, the murderer wasn’t done. He went to a nearby home and began smashing down a front door.

The homeowner grabbed a gun and hid in the bedroom while Moncrief ransacked the living room, all the while screaming he was not a coward. He also smashed a truck door and windshield before he was arrested.

Police arrested him at a nearby store while he was charging his cell phone.
