In 2024, phone call fraud cost Americans nearly $700 million, and the median loss per victim was $1,500. But where are robocalls the most common?
According to a new analysis , Fort Worth ranks third in the nation for robocall complaints. In 2024, 659 robocall complaints per 100,000 residents were filed in the Fort Worth area, which is a total of 13,785 complaints, according to the Federal Trade Commission.
Additionally, Plano ranks 14th, while Dallas ranks 24th. Statewide, Texas ranks 23rd in the U.S., with 183,912 reports being filed in 2024, amounting to 637 per 100,000 residents.
Tucson, Arizona, and St. Petersburg, Florida, were the hardest hit cities, with over 700 complaints per 100,000 residents. Seniors were hit the hardest, with those aged 60+ losing $405 million to phone scams and $130 million to text scams in 2023.
