Club security guard arrested following traffic stop

COLLEGE STATION/HOUSTON, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – A previously convicted felon is in jail after police say he was in illegal possession of a stolen firearm and body armor while working at a club.

College Station Police officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2500 block of Texas Avenue on Saturday. The officers contacted a K-9 unit to perform an open air sniff for narcotics. The K-9 alerted to the vehicle and a firearm was discovered during the search. The firearm was reported stolen to the Houston Police Department.

Officers continued to investigate and later found the reported owner of the firearm, who was working security inside of Knights Club, located at 2501 Texas Ave S Suite D-101 in College Station. Officers contacted the club owner and learned the owner of the firearm was not licensed in the state of Texas to be a security guard. It was also discovered this individual was a convicted felon, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm and the body armor he was wearing.
