Meet Tim Campbell.
He’s a champion of blood donation in Erie, giving blood over 600 times since 1989 totaling nearly 80 gallons of blood.
He comes to the Community Blood Bank every other week to donate — That’s a max of 24 times a year.
“There’s 366 days in a year and so I wanted to go ahead and donate every day of the year,” said Campbell.

The blood bank has opened its doors to Campbell on every holiday and special occasion, including leap years.
He said he donates for many reasons, but his strongest motivators are his sister and father.
His sister passed away from an inoperable brain tumor and his father died of cancer.
And after 35 years, Campbell has an appointment scheduled for January 1 that would complete his goal, but before that day could come he was presented with a roadblock.
“I have prostate cancer. So with prostate cancer, and most kinds of cancers, you can’t donate blood. And that hurts because I want to help out,” said Campbell. “That was going to be the last day. That was going to be number 366. And so I’ll have to wait five years.”
