Southern California faces surge in professional residential burglaries by ‘transnational theft groups’

IRVINE, California ( MyCaliforniaNews ) — The Irvine Police Department is addressing a rise in professional residential burglaries committed by transnational theft groups in Southern California. These groups often target homes adjacent to open spaces, entering through back areas and sometimes disabling security cameras, according to a press release from the department. The department is increasing its efforts to prevent and stop these burglaries by deploying extra officers, conducting undercover operations, and collaborating with nearby law enforcement agencies. They are also utilizing technology such as drones and cameras, with their Real Time Crime Center providing crucial information to officers, dispatchers, and detectives in real-time during investigations.Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. The department recommends several safety measures, including maintaining a monitored alarm system, installing cameras in high and inaccessible locations, keeping homes well-lit with motion-sensing lights, using timers for lights, ensuring all windows and doors are locked, keeping garage doors closed, and checking for hidden cameras on their property. “If you see something, say something,” stated the Irvine Police Department.
